you are going to be busy come hatch day. Mine are hatching now started out with 36 for of those were no good. They started hatching yesterday while i was out of the house. My dd called me to tell me. So far I think I have a total of 8 that have hatched all together. Setting up the brooder now. When do i give them to grow gel- wait till they are all out or start giving it to those that are ready to come out of the bator

Let me tell ya this hatch for some reason got away from me. It seemed like i just put them in then i happen to look at the calender for something else and realized i was at the day before lock down. And my temp was low and so was humidity. But so far so good.
I have 2 more that are wrking their way into the world. I have not gotten anything done in the house and i litterly mean it LOL
so so far been looking at bator, chicks, and some house wrk all day LOL
And back to wrk tomorrow and do not want to go !!

I am about to take some pics and load them up to the computer

Don't open your incubator until your hatch is COMPLETELY done! Please! And you don't need or have to give them grow gel, but since you are than wait till they're in the brooder.

This is the week. Finally. The ship date on my 5 buff orpingtons is March 21 (give or take). The brooder is ready. We are ready. We have the brooder light on testing the temperature and it is steady at 95. My husband is all prepped and ready for the call from the post office (he works from home). I keep looking at the lit brooder and trying to imagine it with the babies in it.

I've only had to wait 4 weeks, but it seems like it's the longest 4 weeks ever. We are working on the chicken run. We are converting an existing shed into a coop for the girls. We have sand at the bottom of the brooder and you wouldn't believe the lengths I went to for the sand. It's very nice beach sand that I sifted, rinsed several times, and then baked at a high degree of heat to sterilize it.

We have medicated chick crumble, a small feeder, a waterer, and an accurate thermometer in the brooder. The nursery is in our sun room. My granddaughters are super-excited. Our schnauzer will be curious and probably a bit crazed and take some controlling, our dachshund will show little interest.

We are ready.
