@Merrymouse don't downsize too much. The kids tend to come back. And when they do they've often managed to mutiply!
Well, thats what Im trying to avoid....no room at the inn....get out and stay out! Just kidding, of course. My oldest is in pharmacy school and she already told us if she has a job close to home she is coming home for at least a year...she is missing having the dogs around so much all she does is look at puppies on line. So she says she has to come home for at least a year so I can raise and train her puppy that she plans on getting the day she graduates

And she wants a toy breed, no offense to toy breed lovers but that is not my style. So yes, we will downsize but will still have room for the kiddos to return if needed.

Hello everyone! I'm just finding this thread so it looks like I have 183 pages to catch up on!

This is year will be my first raising chickens. We purchased our chicks at the end of March from our local TSC. We have three Barred Rocks and three Tetra Browns. They are a month old now and spent their first night out in the coop last night. We purchased a pre-made kit from TSC. The price was right and it's a nice little coop but there's no door leading into nesting area so my girls kept coming out of the coop last night and then were too afraid to go back in when it was dark. It looks like we'll need to do some tweaking for tonight.

It's been a really fun experience for us so far. We originally started for the eggs but were blown away by the big personalities of these little girls and we just love them.

I look forward to sharing this experience with you!

I've gotta get some pictures but my 5 week old chicks and 5 day old chicks are sleeping together. Haha the younger ones have been in a pen next the the older ones since I got them and yesterday the older ones started hopping into the pen and taking naps under the heat lamp and hopping back out. XD

Lol kids! Gotta love em though don't we?

Having granddogs is fun. My daughter has two pitbull puppies so I get all the fun of playing but I don't have to clean up the mess.
