Haha! Yeah, toddlers are hard! Stick with the 3, 4 times a day makes the embryos lay on the same side for several nights in a row, making them adhere to the shell and can cause early deaths. I just wanted to make sure you weren't doing even numbers. It doesn't have to be on a schedule either, you could turn them 5 times a day (if you are around most of the day) and do it in the morning when you wake up, and then a couple hours later, and then once at lunch, once around 3 or 4 and once before bed. Just throwing that out there. Your schedule currently sounds good though

I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s ok for me to play with my babies lol. I was hesitant to turn them more that 3 times as I thought of mis-handling & have fought the urge but I don’t think I can anymore lol

Haha! You can do it however much you want, as long as its an odd number, and you probably shouldn't go past 7 times a day, that might be pushing it. Just make sure to wash your hands before you touch them, as you don't want to spread bacteria to the eggs.

So I’ve candled about 6 of my eggs, two seem suspicious , two don’t seem to have a free flowing embryo, but otherwise the development is amazing to see!!

Should an embryo become stuck to the side of its shell, can it be corrected? Is there something that’ll need to be done to help a successful hatch? Or is it a random non-scientific sticky-hatch-it-might?

Can’t wait ‘til day 10 to candle again!!

I don't think there is any way to tell if the embryo is stuck to the shell. The free flowing ones are normal. Turning them 5 times a day is really good for them.

I feel I’ll be playing with the eggs more now lol so they’ll get their fair share of getting dizzy tho I don’t think I’ll match the 96xs a day a real mom does

I will definitely be updating! I will also try for pics on day 10. Thanks for being so helpful & supportive, I’ve been feeling to chatty here

So since I believe that today is day 10, I candled my whole clutch.

unfortunately that lead to finding 16/36 unviable eggs & one in question.

14 quitters, 2 yolkers, & 1 unsure. Leaving me 20 eggs (maybe 19)

I have one egg that’s happy to see you & two with check marks it is interesting what designs can appear on a shell. It seems all my brown speckled eggs were the quitters to

unfortunately as well it would seem all the ones the kids named, save one, were the goners.

Here’s hoping the remaining make it to hatch day!
