I've decided I'm going to put my two brown and rust EE cockerels in the auction, so no pre-sale on those boys. They are super pretty so I figure either they will go for very low bids or a lot of people will see them in person and have to have them, they get prettier every day! If I was NPIP they would be on their way across the country right now since I had some offers from way out of the area people. And if they fail to sell in the auction I will just keep them for another swap

I have a friend who wants some, I think they are, white crested porcelain Polish? They look like porcelain with a white poof to me but not sure what they call them in Polish. She wants some hens/pullets definitely and maybe a roo too.

aceschix, what colors do you have in your EE chicks?

I swear we have had as much fun as little kids playing in the down pours and wet weather, We have held many in rain or shine situations and had great sales and a ton of fun,( lets see how wet you can get running between tents LOL!)
And for the strangest reason it appears there are way more visitors and buyers when the weather is poor.

Only a few people complain about setting up in a raging down pour lol, but it didnt send them packing either.

I'm going to see what I have in the coop today for eggs and think about setting them in the bator for standard Wyandotte and Wyandotte cross chicks for the chickenstock. They are a mixed color flock so not sure what I'll get. Mostly SL probably since one of my roos is SL and 3 of my hens are too, but I don't actually know which of the hens are laying. I also have a BLRW roo, and the Wyandotte hens are 1 BLR, 3 SL, 2 GL, 1 Columbian. Then I also have in there these hens: 2 golden comets, 1 BR, 1 EE, 2 BSL, and 1 bantam mix. I can tell which eggs are Wyandottes mostly, but the BR eggs are similar. The BR crosses come out black though so they should be easy to spot. I'll let y'all know if I set them and later if they are developing

ETA: Lazy hens, not a single egg today and it is beautiful out right now. I might try to set some I collected earlier in the week but not sure how that will go, I didn't pay attention to how I put them in the cartons so no idea which way the pointy is going.

again ETA: I must have myself pretty well trained. I wasn't paying any attention when I plopped the eggs in the cartons and every single one is pointy end down! So I'm setting 17 (bator only holds 18). So excited to see how these guys turn out!

If I can convince DH to make a road trip (we're about 2hrs away), I'll try to make it. Won't have anything to sell as I'm *STILL* waiting to pick up my chicks...

Well, technically, *I* don't mind them. But last October, a biblical style plague of ladybugs descended on our area. We're new and our neighbors tell us this happens every year, but this year was particularly bad. We were taping out doors and windows shut, but hundreds (and this is not an exaggeration) ended up in our house. From my seat in front of the computer, I can see about half a dozen in the corners of my windows and one walking along the edge of the computer screen. Drives my cats batty and my darling DH, who rescues spiders and won't ever kill anything, has begun squishing them on purpose. Keep in mind, they have been sharing our house since October. I still put them in our basement in hopes they will eat the aphids on my citrus trees. So I guess I should say we SHARE our yard with a menagerie. The only ones I'd prefer to stay away are the fisher cats and the bear. The rest are awesome. I have a feeling that the ladybugs won't last long once we finally get chickens.
