I think Marshmallow must be a super tom. I just candled some of Bubbles' eggs (the hen I sold you at Chickenstock) and there is a fertile one that was laid on the 16th - 3.5 weeks after you took Marshmallow! Now I'm kicking myself for not saving the ones laid after the 16th, but who could've guessed they'd be fertile that far out? Everything I've read says 2 weeks is the longest they can stay fertile. Oh well, I pulled the last 4 turkey eggs out of the fridge and will give it a go anyway!

I didnt have a lot of chickens laying to load the bator, so i would save the eggs up till I hade about 2 dozen and sometimes it was 3 weeks out and they developed...it was the spike in temp in the bator that ended them for me....darn bator!

3 weeks is impressive for storage length.

What I'm talking about though is that my hen turkey was still able to LAY a fertile egg 3.5 weeks after the tom left. I've been collecting eggs for a week at a time and then putting whatever I have in. That way I have a hatch to look forward to every week!

Ok maybe I read it wrong but some where some one wrote to seperate breeds for one month to insure fetile eggs would be from the right tom.
so I am thinking the fertility would be good for up to a month after the tom leaves.
now I have to go back and find where I read that.
