Spring garden plans

I am drawing up my spring garden plans. Going through all the catalogs and day dreaming about what it will look like. I was hoping to add a few interesting or unusual plants this year just for fun and to get the girls more interested. Anyone have a plant they add to there spring garden that it just to cool. Also if you would like to post a picture of your garden that would be nice if you have them. Looking for ideas and inspiration. I know a lot of you all have awesome gardens. Miss prissy I'd like to see your garden. I'm sure it is impressive. Another thing do you mail order your seed, get them from the store, or order them online? Always interested in how other people do things.

This is something I am going to try and grow from seed next year......it is called a desert rose........although it has to be brought in during winter.......it is the most unusual flower I have.

These are fun fun for kids to grow.called swan gourds........when dried , the next year you can make painted swans,planters,birdhouses out

of them !

Wow, The desert rose almost looks like an oleander. It is very pretty. Do the flowers smell sweet? Where did you get it. I was thinking of doing gourds this year with the kids. My oldest DD is very artistic and I think she would enjoy painting the gourds. I like the swan ones and was thinking of some of the big ones to try and make bowls with.

I can't wait till spring! I'll be starting tomatoes in March in the house and then planting everything outside in mid may. Things include, corn, snow peas (out in Late april), green beens, pumpkin, zucchini, pumpkins, japanese squash. And new for this year, acorn squash, gai lan, and chinese winter squash!

Nothing looks so good though... just lots of food.

Lot's of food looks good to me veggie gardens are beautiful. its like chickens duel purpose food and pretty.

I'm switching around my garden, I've had a veggie garden in the front yard for years in raised beds, I'm moving them out back, now that there's sunshine out there, and turning the front into a more formal herb garden. The perennial border will stay. I'm still really up in the air about the design, but it'll come to me. What I have to do is kill the sod that's on the paths between the beds. I'm putting down newspaper and rocks to hold it down. Hopefully by next spring it'll be dead enough to not come up through the new garden!

Has anyone tried growing the snake gourd? I saw some on e-bay and was just wondering if anyone tried them and how it went?
