This is horrible! (Nothing to do with chickens BUT) one of the girls in my daughters class got sent home from school for Lice! Argghhhhh!

Do we think a DE dust bath will work as well on a 4 y.o. As it does on chickens?

BTW hair dye that has an ammonia base will kill the lice and dissolve the glue that holds the nits onto the hair shaft. Don't change the kids hair color just use the same shade. It is way safer than using the stuff you buy from the pharmacist. That is a nerve poison. There are cumulative effects (i.e. the more you use it the more it will affect you). I have used the hair dye and can vouch for it's effectiveness. You must get the type that uses ammonia. It is the ammonia that is doing the killing.

I do have an incubator but,
The reason I'm asking is because I have
A broody pekin bantam and I hope
To set cream legbar eggs under her.
So can I enter with her?

MY DUCKS ARE HATCHING!!!!!!!!! Was gonna do lockdown tomorrow evening so I did my routine check of the bator and added a touch of water. Than I heard a cheep cheep. Upon closer inspection one of the Ancona had an external pip. Oh crap better raise the humidity and get that turner out as well. Did a quick candle of them and saw 2-3 internal pips on more ducks.

I'm gonna have ducklings soon

No, a broody is fine! That's what I'm hoping to use, but we'll see.

I was actually thinking about this already, but also wondering what people would think of me :/ and it may be useful on me -just in case, grr I hate lice
