"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

No. I really didn't think it through. I was waiting on these eggs and didn't think that they were really coming. Then they showed up.

When your first set go into lock down you can remove some of the turner racks so that it is open, then you will need to take out fluff balls and you'll be able to take out the rest of the turner. Genius

Problem with that idea is that fluff balls don't respect boundaries and they usually do what they want to. There's a reason why you take out the turner for lockdown.

I guess I could keep the turner in for just the younger eggs and hope there's a hatch on day 21(and no baby chicks hurt themselves on it) for the older set so I can take the younger eggs out of turner and put them in lockdown.

Or I could try to convince my hubby that we need another incubator...

Any suggestions?

If you take out half the turner and put the eggs on the bottom do you think the just hatched chicks would be able to climb up on the eggs in the turner trays though? seem like it would be kinda high (I dunno) an i have seen some people forget to take the turner out completely and chicks hatch on top of it, just an idea may not work

Convince hubby.

I wouldn't be worried about them climbing on the eggs. I'd be worried about them getting hurt by the turner because it doesn't have an automatic stop on it if something gets in the way.

Thanks, I hope so too. Today is day 42 and I still have a while to go. :barnie. They are at 95.5 to 96 or so, the temp at the bottom of my cabinet incubator.

You're closer than I am! My oldest 4 eggs are on day 31. The second 4 I set are on day 19 (I think, I'd have to check my notes :/ ). Have you seen any wiggling from yours?

Hmmm, yep didnt think about that at least it moves really slow, could put a piece of cardboard up as a barrier

Or just buy another Bator!
