Is there a vent on that thing? I can't find it. There is just one tiny air hole.
That is correct, just the tiny hole, no vent.
Sorry I'm on the octagon

Yep, that's open, I did put warm water in the tubes, and am wondering if that is what is causing the high humidity, and it will go down when it cools off a bit, and reaches incubator temp. I could try taking some of the water out, but would need to pull out the eggs first, and would rather not. That is correct, just the tiny hole, no vent.
Quote: You just put hot water in recently?
I would let that reach temp first.
Water surface area determines humidity, not water depth.
I have an octagon with the humidity piece. I'm tempted to just put them back in there. I was trying to avoid having to clean that thing because there are only 7 eggs. Then to top it off, I dropped one while trying to move it. (first time ever doing that.) The chick is still moving inside, and the membrane is not broken, but the egg is cracked quite a bit. I'm hoping that it will still hatch if humidity is right during lockdown. I candled it and right now the chick is still alive.Sorry I'm on the octagon![]()
Yep, pretty warm water. Oh yeah, it is surface area. So if it doesn't go down, I could either cover one part of one side with a little duct tape, or I could dump one side out. My students have every chick counted which is scary for me. I told them not to be too hopeful. You just put hot water in recently?

well tell them to hurry it up! We want to see them!I hear cooing, cheeping from egg #2. I tapped on it while it was next to my ear and it sounded like the chick did a somersault inside! It's crazy.
Oh good! That would be great! I hope it is ok. My students have the eggs counted. And our last batch had a bunch of clears due to an infertile rooster, so they are more than anxious for these 7 to hatch!Should be ok if the membrane has not broken, these things happen.
I've got mine to clean tomorrow![]()
