Poor chick.....Not only did it have a terribly hard time getting out of the shell, it now has the cord still attached, and funky feet. It's only been out about 30 minutes. Can someone direct me to the links about toe correction?

I run a humidifier in the room and have my daughter lightly spray with a mister while I open the bater quickly and grab the chicks. Never had a shrink wrap yet. You can also place some wet sponges in there.

Yesterday afternoon day 20, i was pretty discouraged thinking we werent going to have any hatch this time...I had discovered one of dear grandsons had turned the heat up to 108 for several hours around day 12, but kept on hoping and praying for the best. Last night we started hearing cheeps and noticed three pips, went to bed and woke up hoping for hatches, but found 10 pips and 1 zipped. After work only one had hatched by 3 PM...by 8 PM tonight a total of 9 have hatched,one is half way out, three are pipped and waiting for action on the other 9. It seems like it is taking longer this time for them to hatch out. the shells are harder for the chicks to get through or something. How many hours should I wait before it is absolutely needful to help? Does any one ever change the feed to a lower calcium level before setting any eggs?

I won't say that you can't, but will say that you
shouldn't unless it's absolutely necessary. You will lose an incredible amount of humidity in a matter of seconds, which can jeopardize the unhatched chicks... BUT... in your case wiith your humidity running 88%, I think you would be okay, as long as you do it quickly. I'm guessing you want to move the chicks to the brooder? Only do so if they are dry and fluffed. 

Every one is active and happy seeming I turned the temp down I'm going to see how the ones that are pipped are doing in an hour thank you very much for all your help I'll keep you updated

From pip to hatch can take upwards of 24 hrs.

That is a relief! I just don't remember it taking that long with our first hatch. thank you!
