"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Ok, this chick needs some help... And so do I... It kicked out, but it is clearly a sticky chick and its feathers are hard. It has eggshell bits stuck to it, and a slightly unabsorbed yolk. What do I do??

no ducklings yet. Two external pips and no clue on internals. Externals are at about 35 hr on the first and 24 on the second. Heard peeping from somebody in there this morning but no other externals on anything.

Oh and it looks like the eye is dried shut too. Not yolk, it kicked free of whutever it is- yall think I had a humidity problem? Rest are good though...

Well, there is NO way that I can keep up with all the posts but I'll try! I couldn't take it any longer and bought an incubator and ordered some Icelandic eggs. Not too many for my first time hatching chicken eggs, just 8. I did hatch a bunch of ducklings some years ago for the pond. I'll have to read up again and learn the differences.

Now I have to go tell my wife what I did. If I don't give any updates, tell the authorities to check the pond for my body!
