I'm so nervous! These are my first goats and I'm not sure what to do. They said she's never had trouble kidding before. I'm just going to move into the barn. There's wifi, so I'll be alright.

Then I won't tell you what I went through 2 weeks ago with a doe that never had trouble kidding before.
Maybe you should!! I need to be prepared.

Guess I'll be reading goat books on that darn cruise. Leaving Saturday!

Two kids entered birth canal at once. Tangled, I couldn't figure out what I was feeling. Vet came out, pushed things back in, untangled the kids, pulled first with chain second, pulled second out with hand. Both kids were alive and are doing fine. I was always told and read to only go in with a finger or two, now I know whole hand and arm if you need to.

Dgibson, it looks like your setup is same as mine: Farm Innovations 4250. I have the mylar thermometer sitting right on the eggs. As advertised, the controller stays between 99° and 101°. But the free "analog" thermometer runs about 3-5 degrees below the controller. This is my first hatch so which should I believe?

OMG I think one of my incubators is cursed. Last night when I checked on them they were all nice and snuggly warm and humid. This morning at 5:30 a.m. the lid was ajar and the temperature was very low. My poor little eggs. I do not know how the lid got a jar. The only thing that might have saved them is that the heating fan was directly above the five eggs basically sitting on top of them. Now I'm not sure whether I should candle tonight on day 13 or just wait until day 14? I've added water make sure the lid was going good and hopefully that's good enough.
