"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

I set 17 Golden Cuckoo Marans this morning, (3/31), along with 3 isabelle leghorns and 3 Silverudds Blue in one incubator. I already have 24 assorted SB, SFH and isabelle leghorns in another incubator due to hatch in 7 days whenever that is.

Also a cuckoo marans has been sitting for 3 or 4 days on at least 12 eggs. I put SB,  isabelle leghorn and blue copper marans under her, but no telling what else she has commandeered.

Today, an australorp decided she is broody. She has a BYM under her and as soon as I can catch her off the nest she will have some SFH's under there too. IDK how many eggs she has. 

The broody disease has begun!

All said, I have a minimum of 60 eggs set at this moment, but knowing my broody hens it is a lot more than that!

I really want some isabelles I think they are beautiful. Do you have these sold already? Or maybe I could get some eggs to set with my next batch I'll set on may 2nd. Maybe I'll join the MPC may hatch a long!!!!!!

Most definitely! I'm so stinkin excited but oh so scared I'll screw it up some how lol. I only have two pekin that are about a month old right now and I'm so in love I couldn't resist giving this a shot

Good luck..... I might be trying duck hatching, if I can resist the feed store lings long enough.

My Peking I had years ago, was so sweet, and she laid the most beautiful eggs, she was my only duck so she got a lot of attention, I never replaced her after the neighbors kid shot her while she was in her own pool. She liked to be petted and would lay flat down in front of you so you had to stop and pet her if you stepped over her she would throw a tantrum,literally she would smack her feet on the ground and make the loudest noise. just like a spoiled kid, lol

She sounds so sweet! Tantrums from a duck? I wish you got video of that....

They are very curious right now lol. They have to check to see if everything is food. But they are slightly skittish still, once you pet them a minute and they know you're not going to eat them they calm down and will cuddle right up to my daughters and I. They aren't too loud like I was expecting
