"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Haha! Yeah, I've read that they can live for 20 years. There are much worse things to be than the peacock lady. Sounds cute to me .:)
LOL! I totally agree

I'll keep the" Peacock lady" I dont mind it much. I went to the only grocery store in town and one of the employees said "hi Shay! " and a few others chimed in "ayyyy Peacock lady! That's not Shay thats the Peacock lady! She's the owner of the peacocks at the viewing spot!" Its like really??? LOL they've named my yard the veiwing spot? Haha! Small towns

I need to start charging these people around here! If they weren't my birds I can guarantee I'd be viewing at "The veiwing spot" as well

Put down a layer of bounty paper towels for the first week or so. You can roll it up real easy and keep them clean. It's just expensive for the bounty. At least until they get their legs under them!

In the past, I've put blue shop towels under them for the first couple of days. One I get them on the hardware cloth, I keep poop trays under them with pine shavings in the trays. My five week olds are ready to come out of the brooder (it was in the 80s here today) to make room for the new chicks.

I like to use those absorbent pads from the pharmacy. Not for me... for my chicks!

I like them because they cover a large area, they give good traction, they last several days, they're highly absorbent, and they have a plastic lining on the bottom so I don't get my hands dirty when changing them. I'll use them for a week then switch over to fine pine shavings. They've worked amazingly well for me. Just my 2c...

I'm glad trimming the corps helped with fertility.

If you are looking at day 140, do you have Nigerian Dwarf goats?

Good luck with your hatch!

I'm glad to hear the trimming worked too. I just did a little feather trimming oh my chickens too.

Hi! I'm new to this board.

Just set 7 eggs on April 7, looking for an April 28th hatch day! So exciting!

I have set Creme Legbar, Swedish Flower, and Cornation Sussex.

Welcome and have fun! I'm kind of new too! :)
I found 3 presents for me when I got home. Set 4 eggs, 1 was infertile so had my first 100% successful hatch!!!!!!! one looked weak, gave it some electrolytes and vitamins. Crossing my fingers that it pulls through

Adorable!

I swear my kid and I must have butter fingers. She dropped a silkie egg and it was a goner a few days ago. I just deopped on candling tonight. And it was fertile

Luckily it cracked and no ooz, so I waxed it. Not sure if that will work but I'm going to try.
