"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

5 ducklings so far! 3 more working on hatching and 2 not pipped yet.

Ahhh, baby duckies... :love

Their temp for forced air incubators is too high. 101.7:eek: , I'd have chicks hatching on day 16 at that temp. Should be 99.5
They are correct for the still air temps, though.

Thanks!

Thanks!! I thought it seemed pretty high! Good to know the other was right though. But I can't help but to wonder how many people have read that and followed that advice!

Sitting in my office at work and I think I keep hearing tiny chirps...  ~signs I am chick obsessed~

YES!!  I'm convinced that I'm hearing the chicks throughout the day and therefore need to go downstairs to check to see if they are in distress.

Glad I'm not alone!

Well i too thought i heard peeping at work today! Oh wait...I did!!! Post office called and I ran to pick up my babies that arrived from TN. I was afraid they were too cold as here in Texas last night and this morning it was in the 40s and 50s. I brought them to the hospital (i am a nurse)gave them water and stowed them away in the bosses office who happened to be off today

and I made them a heat pack with a biohazard bag and hot solidifier. They drank and got quiet. Ate really good when I got home. 1 didnt survive the trip a tiny splash isbar. Another splash doesnt look to good. I have her in a brood box by herself her wing is droopy and she is having a hard time standing. Not sure if she is just weak or if she might have a broken leg or wing.

Nope:lol:, there definitely is chirping.

Ugh I figure that the hatch that was due 4/17 and I expected to be late because I had temp troubles early on is likely to not hatch any more.. I had 1 yesterday afternoon and 1 last night.  No signs of anything happening to any of the other eggs and then to top it all off the heating element went in that incubator today as in kaput no more heat. I don't know what to do with this batch at this point.  I really hate to tell my friend I only got 2/24 of her eggs (2 were eliminated early as clears, the rest HAD been developing):he :barnie :hit I can't even put into words how defeated I feel right now.

So sorry to hear you're having a hard time. :hugs

10 have now hatched so far under the other broody

Blooie, sorry if I missed another post about your baby you saved..how is it doing? Out of the woods?

I don't remember who it was that thought they may have had a single yolk egg with two fertilization points (two embryo growing)

@Sally Sunshine sent me these pics, while preparing supper this evening it appears she may have stumbled upon an egg yolk with two fertilization points.

Oh my goodness, I've never seen anything like this. Glad she sent you a photo.
