Ladies and gentlemen, I have an announcement to make:

Jace has hatched 5/6 fertile eggs!!!!!

The 6th one, I am not sure if it was actually fertile or not. Looked clear when candled, with a lot of fluid? Broke it open and it looked like a clear, but it had sort of a murky fluid so I dunno if that was an early quitter.

I'm counting it as such though.... All the rest were obviously clear.

Quote: How do you get your humidity so high? I can't get mine to hit 70. Should I pipe water into the bottom?

I haven't opened the bator at all today!

since the sun came up...

I think they're malpo. I can see inside the polish egg and it looks shrink wrapped. I missed days 9-16, so I have no idea what temps/humidity were like. My sitter could've opened the bator an hour every day... I have no way to find out. The merle that I helped had a dry brown membrane, so I'm sure it was stuck.

Anyway, I have incubation guilt over not treating these babies better. I'm already looking at less than 50% hatch rate.
what do do for humidity?

CONGRATS!!!! where are pics?

Just an update, all 8 of my chicks that hatched April 7th are doing great! They will be 2 weeks old tomorrow & they are all healthy even though 6 hatched with omphalitis.

This is the chick I had to assist because he got stuck zipping. He is huge now!

Buncha boys

Chocolate cuckoo chick that is going to my friend. I think this one is a pullet.
Your Dino-stage chicks are way cute! I love their colors!

Well when you send them my way tell them to stop and drop a little rain cause I don't want to water the garden myself.
So you've been stealing all the rain the last couple days? That's awful nice of you. Since it was sunny and beautiful the last couple days. Good weather to get stuff done outside.
@mlm Mike and @Chaos18 Apparently there is no rain near you guys because IT IS STILL RAINING ON ME IN TEXAS! It is wet. I think we are starting to grow a little slimey. We did get a break and some sun yesterday. Our grotto was flowing with crystal clear green water. And the sunset last night was perfection though. I will be doing my best to send rain your way!

Ok... I'm officially swamped with chickens. I just did a beak count... Or as best I could. In my big pen I have 13 laying or POL bulk austra hens, 2 white leghorn hens and my last 5 month old blk austra rooster. That's 16 there In my small pen I just put out my 5 week old pullet bigger babies. 4 polish, 3 dominites, 5-6 EEs, 2 buff orphingtons and 5-6 production reds. That's another 22.... Then the fun of counting the brooder... At least 33 chicks. Many are Roos and will be relocated. The pullets I know are 3 silkies, 2 full blood bantams, 1 frizzle Cochin and I was bad girl and got 2 silver grey dorkings this morning. The rest are mixed of undetermined sex. That's around 73-74 birds. Help. Just outside. First time. Oh what is this stuff?! Move over. Let me see

The hardware cloth on the bottom of the bator? Should have shelf liner or screen to help prevent injury and splay leg.
