springtime post your new chick pics

Thanks to everyone for the photos! The chicks are all so darned cute.

Ours were already 4-6 weeks old so we missed the cute downy phase. They all look like dinosaurs at the moment. I can't wait until their muffs and beards come in!

We'll have our first day olds soon and I can hardly wait!

I let the babies out of the brooder for a while today while the older girls were doing their free-ranging:

Sure was fun trying to catch them all - 23 of them - to put them back...should have had a plan in place before starting. Most of them flew back in when I re-entered the coop...but 3 of them made me work for it!

Oh...I spotlighted one of the roos to show a friend of mine what the kid looks like - it's one of his Ameracaunas, and 4 of them have these wonderful blue colorations...just what Tre was looking for!

You can have all you want!, it grows everywhere , I've removed it from some of the yard, so i can have grass there but the chickens do eat it, I like it in the chick pen because they can hide under it too! Of course it's in all the pastures.
Oh how I wish there was a way to get it from you... I would pay you to harvest it! I make salves every year & never have enough plantain. Where I live, its the narrow leaf variety. I can drive an hour North to harvest (the broad leaf like you have) in Humboldt but it isn't as prolific so not quite worth it. (I guess flying to West Virginia wouldn't be economical either.)
I'm trying to think if I have any family that is near you who could come get it... my uncle is in W.V...? I'm drooling!
