these are my guys from TSC I bought three weeks ago today. They are going to Look like your reds I believe. It just said red pullets. I have 2 bantams from there I can't sex if anybody can help I posted pics of them too. One is a cockerel.
this is my cockerel, a pic from last week this i believe to be my bantam pullet. getting black mixed in
to tell the sex of a chick put one index/pointer finger under where the beginning of the wing meets the body and the other one just like it on the other wing then pick them up by they index fingers under the wings and if its a male than his feet will point out but if its a female then its feet will go straight down
My two favorite Australorps about 8 weeks old. The cockerel somehow managed to lose a toe two days ago, but is running around and ruling the introduction pen again today!
We received our chicks today! They are two weeks old tomorrow. Our friends had a couple of broody hens, so they purchased eggs for them to hatch. We are not sure of the breeds, but were told there would be Buff Orpington, Plymouth, Leghorn and Ameraucana. Two of the black ones have a little yellow on the tops of their heads. I think the two lightest brown ones are the Orpingtons, but I'm not sure. They all have names now but we'll see if any of them are cockerels. The tallest black one acts as the protector. We are having so much fun with them. They make quite the ruckus if I'm not in the room talking to them! The smallest black one without yellow on her head is the loudest and never stops chirping! Her name is Gabby. The yellow is Elsa, her sister Anna is one of the browns. The other brown is Penny, the black with the small yellow spot on the head is Omelet and the other black is Maverick. The pretty brown one is Diamond, for the diamond on her head. We would appreciate any assistance in determining the breeds. If not, we will soon find out. I love that their little tail feathers are starting to come in!
