So I tried sprouting several weeks ago and was successful the first time but then the next couple times I noticed mold. What was I doing wrong? I’ve seen some suggest using a small amount of bleach when you soak the first night. Is that safe for the chickens to consume? I was rinsing every 6-8 hours... and keeping the pans in the laundry room. I want to try again because it increasing the feed but I don’t want to feed them mold.

Help!!! TIA!

I’m sure there are others that have figured it out but I have had no luck sprouting in the summer it always molds on me. I do it in the house and sprout all winter with no mold it’s great then and it makes the feed bill go down and the eggs delicious.

suggest that as the temperature increases only very vigorous sprouts be used. something like rye or mung beans germinate overnight. fenugreek is another one but expensive. I do stop sprouting when the weather warms up precisely due to mold.
