I have two roosters about 1 and a half years old, and there's spurs are about half a inch long, I seen rooster with long pointy spurs I was wondering when will my roosters have spurs like that? I want them to be at least around 2 and a half inches

Welcome to BYC!

I do not have the answer for you. But there will be others come by here to welcome you that should know more about spurs.

Enjoy your flock and welcome to ours!

Hello and welcome to our flock! :)

According to many sites I've checked, most spurs become full length at 8 months of age.

"If the spur is blunt and less than 3/4 inch in length, the bird is less than a year old and considered a juvenile. An adult rooster, 2 years in age or older, will have a 3/4-inch or longer spur. The spurs of a rooster reach their full size once the bird is about 8 months!"

That's because we know what it feels like to be spurred!
I know what it feels like to get spurred I got spurred by my uncles standard game rooster it hurts a lot and I started to bleed but, he tells me they come in handy when it comes to predators, he says the rooster could do a lot of damage before he gets killed and since mine are free ranging I want them to protect there hens as best as they can..

Those spurs look like they been clipped.

I think they have been prepped with a hacksaw which is consistent with treatment of working games. It will take an additional couple of years for them to approximate a point but will not become as pointy as those not so treated. With older birds the spurs are cut back at roughly three year intervals to maintain natural walking gate. Our domestic chickens live far longer than their wild ancestors yet have spurs that grow at same rate making for some unnatural walking problems the wild birds would never live long enough to suffer.
