OMGoodness... everything has gone up. It's just crazy. But if you have an ATWOODS, they have 10% off all reg items for the 3 day 4th July holiday. Not much but every little bit helps.

I would love to take those cochins but DH would kill me if he had to make another pen right now.

We still don't have the rest of the chickens or ducks moved to the new place yet.

I want the blrw, but I am still paying off my pet sitters from vacation, and ditto, I am needing coop/run space. Got one almost ready for the silver laced Wyandottes, they are already laying and still in the chicken tractor! Lucky me, I build my own, but lumber just took a big price jump.

We hardly ever buy lumber for the pens. We use what materials we can gather fromother places or what somebody doesn't need.

We do plan to build pens like an old western movie town. The covered house part will face the "road" and the runs will be out back. The road will be my path for feeding, watering and collecting eggs. But that won't be till next year. We have too much to do to get this house ready for winter and still have some birds to get moved here from the old place. So nothing special except for making sure they are safe and secure in their pens.

Our big coop was built out of barn wood. Well, it was a big coop till DH couldn't get it moved in 1 piece so he cut it in half and it will now be 2 separate coops. It was divided with a wall and door in the middle anyway and the run was also separated with chicken wire down the middle.

Believe me, I take advantage of all the scrap, free and cheap lumber I can get. But 8 foot lengths I need for runs are hard to find free.:p
I am supposed to get a free mini fridge off Craigslist ! I am going to set up a self serve egg stand for selling eating eggs.

The breeds I have from SQ lines are not laying yet. What I will have are LF BBS Cochins and LF BBS Ameraucana. I need to find out on my GL Polish, BCM, and Welsummer. All are between 16 and 24 weeks old. The younger birds I'm not sure about having at least pairs. Some were from show stock. I'll be able to better judge them in a month or two as to their quality. I have two Partridge Silkies from a show line too. They are only 6-8 weeks old, though and I have no idea on their sex.
