SQ Egg Swap chat thread

I'm impatient. I want them grown up now! I can't wait to try showing and hatching and trading their eggs. At least with the cows I know their sex right away and could show at 4 months. But, I guess they don't eat as much, defecate as much, and only take 21 days for offspring.

Will these work for the swap? They are breeder quality.

Offspring from this flock has done very well at 4-H / FFA shows. They are still too small for open shows, but I have plans in the works to fix that.I need to get a scale to weigh them.

I asked for a SOP for Christmas and nobody got one for me. What is the weight for LF Cochins? Thanks

I can't answer about their quality, but SOP says
Standard Weights:
Cocks 11lbs
Hens 8 1/2
cockrels 9 lbs
pullet 7 lbs.

So now you are going to have to go weight them !! LOL !!

You might ask on a cochin thread !!

So I weighed 4 of them. The cock is 9.5 lbs. The one cockerel is 7.5 pounds at 7 months old. One hen is 9.5 lbs and another is a little over 8 lbs.

We had our first snow the other day, My spoiled brats didn't know what to think, Some didn't come out all day !! Hoping my Paint silkie and serama eggs from the swap get here tomorrow. I noticed before christmas most were taking 3 days !! I'm just glad temps are staying alittle warmer then usual, I'm enjoying it while it last !
