SQ Egg Swap

This is an egg swap for Show Quality hatching eggs. When you look at the average winning bids on auctions for SQ hatching eggs, PayPal offers should be for at least $30 plus a shipping cost.

However, there should be enough SQ eggs offered that no paypal should need to be offered.

You know I have been biting my tongue for a while. I am so sorry I offered Paypal along with my Ameracauna eggs. I guess that was a mistake she chose to accept the pay pal not the eggs. They are all I have and I really wanted to get some Welsummer eggs but I cant afford to out right buy them. And it was $16 not $10. I haven't even received eggs or a confirmation that I would. so remove me I don't care. I thought this was more about getting some SQ chickens into the hands of others not making a profit. Also There is nothing in the rules saying I could not offer PP I read it like 10 times.

I'm in it for the eggs, not the paypal. I can afford the shipping & i tend to recycle packaging. what i can't afford to do is give someone money for a swap of eggs... if i could afford that I'd just go ahead and BUY the eggs directly. if you all want to just swap paypal addresses that's fine, but if i join a swap it's to get eggs offered, and to pass along more eggs. so i guess if it's going to be a matter of offering paypal on every slow swap, then i'll just bow out and let you all have it.
No one said you have to accept a paypal. The point of offering the paypal is when your offer has sat for several days & no one has claimed it. Obviously, if someone wanted the eggs they would have already been claimed before the paypal was offered. In order to allow everyone ample chance at eggs, we should probably wait at least 2-3 days before offering paypal, or even swap page items as an alternative. I would consider SQ eggs as a DOUBLE SWAP for my swap page, allowing the person who claims mine up to $30 worth of items from my page. I would think a paypal offer would need to be AT LEAST that, if not more, to cover shipping as well.

There was nothing wrong with you offering paypal. Apparently the person who accepted your offer thot it was a fair trade or they wouldn't have accepted it.

I can see both sides of argument. In reference to this specific swap, I think allowing Paypal kills the spirit of the swap, especially now that there is another swap specifically for eggs/Paypal as well as the WYGS where just about anything goes. Allowing someone to claim eggs of high value then offering a pittance for PP will drive away anyone with good stock. Offering PP is nothing short of purchasing. If you can't afford the sellers price, I'll just stalk the relavant thread, claim what you want, and offer what you can afford. And the person who claims a PP could be claiming just to get the swap moving again (you know who you are) even if they take a loss on shipping alone, let alone what they could have sold their eggs for.

how did 6+ eggs (minimum offer in the rules) turn into $30 all of a sudden? i WISH i got that much for 6. for my sq and heritage breeds i might get $30 including shipping PER DOZEN.

and why, all of a sudden, does paypal have to cover the cost of shipping too? if someone offers 6 eggs, the only thing out of their pocket is the shipping. and when someone takes that swap and offers their own eggs, again the only cost is the shipping. so if you ARE going to offer a paypal, offer what you want, but I think the value should be for the 6 eggs offered.

whatever you all decide, that's fine. but as i said, i'm not opposed to someone offering paypal. i just don't have it to offer. i do have eggs. lots of them.

but don't worry, i won't be offering any more sq swaps because i can't back up my eggs with money. so if anyone wants any dorkings or cochins, pm me, i'll sell you some.

"i WISH i got that much for 6. for my sq and heritage breeds i might get $30 including shipping PER DOZEN."

You should post pictures of your winnings and ask at least $20 for 6 of your SQ eggs, not including shipping. The time spent feeding/breeding/and caring for your birds justifies the cost.
You may not sell as many eggs, but if someone wants your line(s), they have to pay the cost.

ok, question for you... simple rule of economics. which is the better choice?
would you rather sell 4 dozen eggs at $30 per dozen or 1 dozen eggs at $40 per dozen?
personally, i'll take a bit less per dozen and make more money overall. and then my birds may become more well known across the country in the process.

i'm not in this for money. if i was, i wouldn't be raising chickens. but i AM in it to increase the awareness of heritage breeds and to get more people interested in them. if i price my eggs/chicks out of reach of those who would best benefit from having heritage breeds, then i'm simply encouraging the breed to be ignored and neglected again in preference for hatchery mutts.

I think this has gotten a bit out of hand and it seems to be spreading from swap and chain to swap and chain. Bluntly put you offer what you want under the rules and if someone takes an offer its between the offeree and the reciveing person, this is not a Sale , we are not doing this to make money , this is for fun and I wish people would stop ruining it for everyone else. If the eggs you have are worth 30 bucks for 6 eggs then post them on the 24 hour actioun or in the buy sale trade section and stop spoileing what for me is something fun to do. I got 10 pp on one swap and spent 17 bucks shipping the eggs to the next person but I was tickled that somoene took my eggs and they didnt have to get thrown away , eggs and hatching and swapping is fun for me its exciteing like crhristmas Im not here to try to make a liveing I feel its the wrong place to do so, anyone that feels that thre not getting what there product is worth dosnt have to offer it do they? !

Wow.... Sounds like this has gotten Messy. Sounds like I am not gonna get the paypal and sounds like everyone disagreed with me claiming it. But I had no problem excepting that PP, so I am not sure where it got so messy at.

I am taking my offer down since I haven't gotten the paypal and this chain is just too messy right now.

Thanks
