Square aluminum frame for Suscovich tractor?

What do you think of replacing the wooden elements of the Suscovich tractor with 1" square aluminum pipe? They run $28 for a 10' length. Amazon sells three-way connectors in bulk. I liked aluminum because it's lightweight and won't rot or warp.

Should work ok, as long as birds are not walking or roosting on metal.
