Squatting chicken: vent looks strange

I've had mixed reviews...........some say they don't want to eat an egg again. lol

When a hen squats for mating, she sort of extrudes the end portion of her oviduct outwards a little bit to catch the rooster's sperm. Possibly that's what you're seeing. If she's missing a lot of feathers around her vent (noticeable when she's not squatting for mating), that's probably something different going on.
