Thanks...I think I will give this a try before resorting to more drastic measures. Even if they do flavor my eggs a little, I usually add Tabasco anyway to my scrambled eggs...

OP I typed in the search box to look for some others who have written about this and there seems to be a lot of evidence of cayenne pepper or red pepper and even black pepper being used dating back with trends as old as seven years so it seems to be real and works and it looks like just a couple of table spoons into the feed is normal and also spreading it on the ground is also a tactic well used and it seems the chickens really enjoy it also but there also seems to be a agreement the chickens do drink more water also the rodents do seem to stay away ......

I have to agree with golden feather, squirrels are a real PTA and it is easier to secure the feed than it is to battle them. Once word is out among the population that there is a free meal the little buggers will travel a long way to get in the bread line. They are pretty easy to live trap but you will need to take them several miles from home to release them or they will be back in a few days. I hit a red squirrel with some orange marking paint and let him go 2 miles away and the was back in 3 days.

I feed fermented feed. Squirrels won't eat it. So they started eating the eggs. Back to trapping them with corn!

Pretty much a waste of time, relocating squirrels is a feel good practice, not a practical or even arguably humane solution... A study in 2004 found that 97% of relocated squirrels didn't survive past 88 days... So basically relocation is pretty much a drawn out death sentence, where the local squirrels will mercifully attack the transplant or it will die of starvation/exposure since all the food sources and housing are already secured and guarded by the local population...

I got tired if feeding rats and squirrels and other critters. This totally solved the problem 100% immediately and paid for itself quickly!!
