Hey guys,

I’ve just noticed this squishy lump on our chicken’s neck, not sure whether it’s just the crop or if I should be worried. I’ve attached a few photos for reference.

Our chicken, Daisy, is about 2 years old, behaviourally fine and eating normally. Just some unhealthy tail feathers but I’m putting that part down to molting at the moment.

Cheers,
Amy

Does she seem to have any trouble breathing?

IF that's her crop, it should be "empty" or reduced by morning.
The crop is normally located toward the front right breast - do a comparison of her to a few other hens her size.

To me, that looks more like the location near an air sac - did you notice if it felt air filled - did it move as she breathed?

I haven’t noticed any trouble breathing.

Size had not reduced this morning, however yesterday it seemed to be filled with fluid, this morning it appeared less fluid and mostly air.
There is no movement while breathing.

I checked the other chickens but couldn’t find anything similar.

Interesting.
I'm not sure what to make of that. I would probably monitor it for a few days to see if it decreases in size on it's own/clears up.
Hopefully some other folks will chime in with their thoughts.
