St. John's Wort

Whether theres no "cure" for Marek's disease, or not, I can speak from personal experience, as can many others, that Hypericum is a miraculous cure for many chickens as far as whatever it is that ails them. People are WAY behind the times in figuring out the diseases of birds, and the cures, because frankly? No one used to care. So MY personal take on it is this. Do whatever you think you need to do. If Hypericum helps you (which it very well might) go for it. If it doesn't, at least you tried.
Sure, go ahead and try anything that won't hurt the bird, but don't get your hopes up, 'cause hypericum has not helped any of the birds I tried it on.

I tried it on our pullet two years ago and it was seriously miraculous. I have read lots of other success stories too. I have also heard from others who had no luck with it. You do have to use the Hypericum (not just SJW) and follow the instructions for dosage. And, of course, it depends on what is wrong with the bird, too. Many things are not curable.

Perhaps you could provide *exact* dosing instructions on how to do this as well as a source for the product you and others use?

@chicknmania , if you're saying St. John's Worth is *not* what should be used, then the title of this thread should be modified, 'cause I think most people are still going to waste their money and buy the SJW.

Sure hope someone will post the exact dosing instructions, but seems no one can.

You are right, depends on the birds illness.

I can only tell you what the dosage that was prescribed by my avian vet for my bird to which she thought was Marek's. It was 200L or C,Hypercum dosage 2 X per day AM and PM. But, then it depends on the condition of the bird.

And how much did your bird weigh, 'cause I bet that a vet isn't going to prescribe the same amount for a 500 gram hen as a 6kg rooster, right?
