St. Patty's Day Green Egg Hatchalong, Set 2/25

Set my eggs yesterday. Ended up with WAY too many. 18 were mailed, all different colors. 18 Barnevelders, six of which are blue-laced project Barnies! A dozen very low quality Marans, over half of which are pullet eggs. Two very high quality Marans. Turner in the bator holds 42. Tucked in the pullet eggs along the edges. Grand total set is 48. Strange how my original number planned of eggs I wanted to set went from 18 to 48. Chicken math? :D

Only 10 ended up being green/olive/khaki. Seven are blue, and the rest are various shades of brown.

Sweet!!! Sounds like the hatch I have going right now, too many for the turner, ended up stacking them! Where did you get your high quality Marans and are they Black Copper?

18 to 48 sounds about right, because 1/2 might not hatch, and half of what does hatch will be roos sooooo….

Today is the day!!

Ready? Set…. SET!!!!!

My goal during this hatch is to establish a new habit, they say it takes 21 days to form a habit….how convenient. As DH's blood pressure could use some adjusting, and my WEIGHT could use some adjusting, I think we are going to eat a better breakfast each morning. I know, I know, not much of a commitment, but baby steps, right?

Good luck everyone. I'm waiting for DD#3 to wake, then we'll set together!!

I wont be setting til tonite, I meeting someone at work to swap eggs, she's the one I'm getting the bantam Am eggs from

I to will also be setting non green eggs, I have some Ayem Cemani cross eggs and Black Ameraucana eggs that where shipped, plus a few of my Malays because they just started back laying.
Also setting a few of my leghorn's eggs so I can hatch some green chicks!

Yay for the hatch-a-long!

My last hatch was a month ago. I had a 95% hatch rate. Yay! Unfortunately, all but one chick turned out to be roosters, and will eventually be attending freezer camp. So I'm hoping this hatch will produce some pullets.
