staggered hatch?

hello, is it okay to have a staggered hatch like some one day and then a few days later the rest hatch?
It can work in an incubator. It causes more trouble under a broody hen.

But having the eggs all hatch on the same day is more convenient, no matter what method of incubating you use.

It's often better to keep the early eggs a few more days, and start them all incubating at once, so they will all hatch at once. (I know that's not always possible-- it's just easier when you can do it that way.)

Reviving an old thread (because these are for reference, after all) to say cheers to the Harris Farms Nurture Right 360. 100% hatch (eggs placed all hatched) over a 5-day period.

The humidity was high (79%) this time due to our rainy season, I suppose, and I only gathered the eggs from certain hens, including 2 eggs from the same hen 2 days apart. Instead of holding and placing all at once, I placed as i gathered. They are numbered with dates penciled on the eggs.

5 of 5 is a couple of hours from being transferred to the brooder, and she's my biggest, enough to hold her own, but I'll be watching closely for any pecking order issues. 1 and 4 are from the same hen, and while their sizes are very different due to age, they are the same amount of bossy. I think we're okay.

The Crevecoeurs goal is bigger and I also want my black Crevecoeurs to have zero white on the back of their crests after the second molt, so breeding for that, too. They're Greenfire Farms stock, French line Black and Blue.

I'll vax for Marek's tomorrow.

So it's possible, at least with this incubator, to stagger the hatch and remove chicks at 12 hours post-hatch without shrink wrapping any pipped chicks.
