Stan the Man will crow no more

When we lost 20 chickens, some people thought "It's just a chicken" BUT IT'S NOT! They are my Babies!!!!!!
I lost 12 baby chicks due to a horrible horrible disease, and I bawled for days. My family told me they were sorry it happened but, they didn't really understand. All those "chickens" were my babies and my little buddies.

They really are, I know, my chickens are more excited to see me than my kids are.
I just step into the backyard and they run to me as if I am their world. It is so cute
and I just love it. I lost one of my girls last year due to the heat wave and it was so
sad to loose her.
I feel like a mommy duck when I go out to feed my babies. They all come running, and follow me everywhere.

Losing an adult is even harder I think ( even though babies are so cute), I lost my white silkie, who was my therapy bird, last January. I cried and still put fresh flowers on her grave every week.

i know exactly what you mean- i can name every one i have lost, and see their little faces- this year has been the worst, but i wouldn't trade knowing and loving them for anything- they are very much family, and DH seems to understand to a point- but my heart just shatters when i lose one- and when someone here loses one, especially like Stan, its as if he is part of our family too.

My mom goes out and goes "Here cluck cluck clucks!" And they all come running and when ever we hold one, if my mom clucks, they look around like " where's the food ms food lady?!"

I know what you mean. My girls are very much family to us. Even my husband thinks so. Some people put up a fence and put a few
dogs in their backyard, we put a flock of chickens. My girls are such a joy. Some of the chickens here on BYC make the Foul Of Fame
and Stan the Man was one of those. He has a big personality and was the roo that everyone would love to have.

I shut a gate real slow and my Japanese bantam put his head in it and I accidently barely compressed his skull. He started doing the Spazz thing everywhere and i grabbed him and held him still in my arms and noticed how much he meant to me! I sat there and rocked back and forth with his little body crying over him. I knew people saw me, but I didn't give an eggnog. Lol

His mate died from stress/raccoon. She's was so depressed that she literally gave herself to the coon!

RIP. Stan th Man and Renji!
