Standard Cochin Pullets?

All look like pullets, except possibly the darker colored Partridge one. Can you get a picture of the chest? Here are my Partridge Brahmas, pullet and cockerel at 4.5 weeks of age showing off the difference of the sexes of the variety. Males get darker chests feathers while the females exhibit clear pencilling. Even the males get some pencilled feathers at first, but gradually the dark, solid colors take over. 😊

I'm glad you chimed in! Thanks for the comparison pics of your Brahmas - that's very helpful. The darker partridge is the one that I was most concerned about along the way. Since both of the partridges feathered differently, I was constantly comparing them. Also, of all 4, this is the one whose personality seems most cockerel-ish to me. My partridges' chest feathers did come in similar to yours. But I'm really hoping lack of comb development at 7 weeks indicates it is a female...?

Sorry - pics are blurry, but that's what I have on hand right now. The partridge in question has always been darker (more brown) than the other one (more red). Thanks for your help. I can try to get better pics if necessary?

I'm thinking cockerel... it has much less pencilling then I would think to see 😬 Cochins can be slow to mature when it combs to comb and wattles too.

Oh no.... that's what I was afraid of! Well, I guess only time will tell for sure. I'll update this thread if/when I see any significant changes. Thanks for the input!

Greetings! Long time lurker, first time poster here. Thank you all so much for this invaluable resource. I have learned so much!

I was wondering if someone with more experience could help me confirm that my 4 standard cochin are pullets? They were purchased from McMurray Hatchery as day-old females. They are 7 weeks old (hatched 4/28). One white, one black, and two partridge. They all feathered very differently from each other. They all displayed thin red wattles at 3 weeks. They all have spur buds. All of their combs turn pink at the base when they get excited; but for the most part, all of their combs are small and yellow. One of the partridge is displaying a more 'penciled' pattern and the other partridge is displaying a more 'barred' pattern. I have been totally obsessing over this... so I hope you can help put my mind at ease?

Pics aren't the greatest and somewhat washed out, but hopefully you get the general idea....

Thank you so much for any comments or guesses you may have!!! I really appreciate your help!
