Standard of Perfection

I have been VERY interested in this thread. I'm saddened that you stopped, Mr. Miller. As for the physical SOP and what it contains, isn't that a bit off topic?

I believe Dr. Miller himself has asked some questions about what is in the current Standard of Perfection. I don't believe it is off topic at all.

I'm sure we are all LONG since past NYRED's early comments on this thread and he did succeed in getting a dialogue going. A good one! I'm also sure we would all like to know what has happened to Dr. Miller - and, hope that he is well.

You are very welcome to conatct the APA secretary and offer to sponsor the Red Sussex. That is how they get the prints included. Each one had a sponsor.

That is a terrific idea................................however..............................that means I would still have to wait another 10 years to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ten years of floundering around with expensive rare birds just doesn't seem real productive to me.

Does anyone know if the Standard just before this one had Red Sussex in it? If so, I'd love to be able to get my hands on a copy............

Why not ask the APA Secretary, I am sure they will help you.

As far as I know there has never been a colored illustration of the Red Sussex in any APA Standard. There is a nice place for it on page 115 if someone wants to sponsor the two illustrations....It will not take 10 years if someone wants to do that.

There has never been any interest shown to have a set of illustrations of Red Sussex included in the SOP...so they are not there.

So Walt, if someone wanted to sponser a couple of illustrations, A) what is the cost, B) how soon before they would be printed in a new SOP?

It was not my intention to silence Mr Miller & had that been my intention I was clearly unsuccessful.
What I intended, and achieved, was to prompt those lurking into joining the desired dialogue.
BTW-I only speak english. What exactly is involved in beig gobstopped?

Well what happened? What was the conversation that caused this? Oh nuts, NYRed. How do we get him back?
Gobstopped is eastern slang. It means stunned into speeechlessness. A gob is a bun the size of a small hamburger but made out of cake...usually chocolate or red velvet. Sliced sideways and filled with vanilla icing of choice of several textures. It's big enough that if you try to eat it all at once
you can't talk around the mouthful. Thus gobstopped.
