What everyone else said, but be aware, Standard Poodles can be EXTREMELY protective of their place or person. I had one and a friend that had won the European Schuhtzund Agitator whatever award came over to visit and burst out laughing I had gotten a standard poodle, a rescue around eighteen months. He started messing with the dog and did some testing and just was blow away, and I was blown away when he told me that dog tested higher for Schuhtzund potential than most German imports. He was not intimidated, was forgiving, laid back, had big prey drive, blah blah blah... I forget all what he said. It was ten years ago, but just be aware that under all that fluff might be the equivalent potential of an untrained protection dog. Get it trained. The coat, not a big deal. Learn to use clippers and just keep them stripped. Only takes about a half hour every couple months. The no-shed factor is da BOMB!!!
