That's a good size from a new layer! One of my Gold Stars just started laying this week and they are 3/4 the size of what my Americauna girls are laying.I know this post is old but I found it while searching. My “starlight green egger” laid her first egg yesterday …. It’s brownto be fair my Easter egger also lays brown eggs. We can’t seem to get a colored egg layer View attachment 2736965
Yes! They’re big for it being her first few days. Much bigger than our Plymouth Rock and murans who started laying this week too. About half the size of our adult sapphire gems eggs but those are enormous eggs. And she’s young, only about 15 weeks. I didn’t expect her to lay for several more weeks but I saw her do it so I know it was her. We have two so maybe the other will give me a green oneThat's a good size from a new layer! I don't think you normally see a complete color change in a hens eggs. The shade can vary slightly throughout their laying career (if that term applies) but the shade variances I've seen are from my darker brown egg layers. I'm sorry your SGE isn't laying green eggs. That's really disappointing but I hope your hen is as pleasant as my sweet girl.I also think the brown eggs I’ve been getting are from my SGE. I was really hoping for green. Hers are like a brownish pink with white speckles. Anyone else getting brown eggs from their SGE? Do they stay brown or do you get some green eventually?
She is very sweet. Thanks for the info!I don't think you normally see a complete color change in a hens eggs.
