Starlight Green Egger

Here are my girls this evening free ranging before bedtime. They aren't changing much at this point. I assume they will thicken up a little more and their combs will mature a little more, but we probably won't see a lot of big changes from here.

I have two Starlight green eggers that I got at TSC in September. They are approximately 10 weeks old now. I can't wait until they are old enough to start laying because I'm like you and can't wait to see what color their eggs will be! I am wondering if one may be a rooster though because it's comb is twice the size of the other. Just waiting to see what it's saddle feathers will look like.

They definitely have big combs, so there is still hope that it's a hen! This is one of mine. She is older than yours, but they always had pretty big combs compared to other breeds I have!

One of mine makes gorgeous green eggs! The other has some interesting ones . They are more brown green and often have spots, but they taste fine! They are great consistent layers! I am loving them!

Mine are great! Nice hens and consistent layers. Yes the combs tend to be large on hens as well!

Thanks for all the pics and updates! They are going on my gotta have list. If there is a Breeder near Portland I can swap some wonderful Cockerels - 9 weeks old today. Ayam Cemani-Mosaic mix, Blue Marans, and a lovely Silver OE.

Mine do. One is prettier and more consistent color than the other but they are both green!

For those who were following before, our SGEs are now a little over a year old. We have been consistently getting an egg each almost every day. Sometimes we will only have one or the other, but most days we have two green eggs in our nesting box.

They even laid pretty well through the winter. We went from averaging 8 eggs total to 6 eggs total, so just a slight drop out of our 8 hens. We live in Kentucky, so not a really harsh winter, but it did drop into the teens a handful of days.

The eggs are typically an olive color but occasionally range from a typical green, a gray, and sometimes a blue green.
