Nooooo!! I'm so so sorry loosing your favorite is the worst. Let me know if you find her body, that way we could find out who dunnit and you can better protect your flock. So sorry again.

There was no body, only a pile of feathers. Pretty sure it was a hawk or we'd have seen a trail.

Course free ranging will reduce your numbers more.



Pen full of males will have more issues

Yes, I never factored in any for "losses". Going forward, that's a must.

Thank you all and I appreciate you all so much! I didn't think we'd all be so affected by this loss of her, but it has brought up some very good points that I may have learned the hard way even later on down the road. It's awesome to have a forum to go to for support and knowledge/idea sharing! I'm going to get my chicken goals in order to make things even better for my flock.
