started a pallet coop today

We had a hard time finding pallets that were the same dimensions, and not falling apart. Luckily, there are several places to look for pallets out here..
We did have to strengthen some areas with 2x4s (oh well - i want it strong).
We are putting up tar paper

We got anxious to see how it's going to look, so we put up a few of the 'siding' boards. I think it's going to be pretty...

Its looking so cool.
I bet you can´t wait to let them chooks in. lol

well done you. Still want to know what you used on the floor if poss. I am undecided on my floor.
Thanks

Thank you elmacri!

Well, the floor is an issue. Right now, I just have osb down. I HAVE to do something.
There's a place up the road that makes pond liners. Some of their liner material is too thinck for them to use, so it just sits out in this field. I asked the lady who owns the company if I could 'have' a 10' x 12' chunk. She said "SURE, but it has a tendency to ripple in the sun". And it is very thick. I might still go with that, but I'd prefer linoleum - that's what I used in my last coop. I haven't been able to find any for cheap or free...

What are your ideas for flooring?

I was thinking all kinds of things and that's why i thought i´d see if you had any good ideas. lol
1st was making the base out of the pallets but placing the wood so there were no gaps, Or i have a few lengths of chipboard but that's not the best if it gets wet. I used it on rabbits once and it bowed in the area they used as there toilet ( even though it was a fairly small space) We get really hot summers here so i want to be able to clean it really well.
I love your idea of linoleum, trouble is i have NEVER seen it for sell here in Spain let alone second hand. lol All flooring here in houses is tiles. ( unless like me who went very English and put carpets upstairs, although all my Spanish friends are confused as to why i would want this :) )
I am guessing that maybe i will have to stick to a wooden floor like the pallets..................

Please keep us updated with photos and comments alongside. Its very help full.

oh, I think osb is the same as chip board.

You're in spain? Wow. sounds so exotic :) It gets pretty warm here, too. This will be my 1st summer in this area (I moved here in Sept). I understand it can hit 117 degrees (47 C)...Luckily for us - it cools nicley in the afternoon/evenings.

What kind of chickens do you have there? Anything the same as here in the states?

As for your floor - can you use tile?? I think that would be excellent. stays cool, and you could even hose it down...

I would have carpet in every room if I could :) out here, it's mostly hardwood (yuk)

I hope you have a great day!!

haha, Spain exotic?? no not really.

very pretty though. I live a little inland from the coast in the mountains and do have amazing views, but exotic~not sure.

Sounds like you can hit the same sort of temps as here then.
Seriously ? its mainly hardwood there, how cool. I love wood but here its mega mega expensive and not a lot of it about. When i lived in the uk it was much cheaper and easy to get too.
Its true, i hadn´t really thought about using tiles on the floor..... i think thats actually a great idea you have. It was right there all the time staring me in the face and i was looking for something else. lol

Here we don´t seem to have anywhere near as many types as what i could get in the UK . Mainly these::::
Blue Andalusians
Castilians
Minorcas
Catalanas
White-Faced Black Spanish
Silkies too.
I also keep ducks, have two geese , two turkeys too oh and a load of rabbits lol
I hope you have a great day too but i´m off to bed now as its 11.30 pm here :)

Did you get the side boards for free, or did you have to buy those boards?

It's looking very nice.

I will have to disagree with you about hardwood floors. Hardwood floors look great and increase the value of a home. But you are entitled to your opinion.

thx bulitt!

When we moved into this house in Sept, there were all these boards in a pile on the back side of the property. We were going to burn them, until hubby had a great idea to use them! So, those were free...

I do like the way hard wood looks, but I hate to sweep, and I love to vacuum. I know I can vacuum hardwood, but I still have to dust b/c of all the dirt from the rockery up the road.
And, it gets so cold in our house - i love the coziness of carpet.
