Started the new coop build

** pain finally subsided in the wrist, I was about to go mad with a pressure point over a bone....lol.
this coming friday the stitches come out and I get a cast put on for 2 months ( also get info on what was done, I was so dopey in recovery I dont remember if he did a fusion or bone removal, but did remember he said the 2 main tendons were completely shredded and had to be rebuilt... fun fun, can barely move fingers and lord almighty I dont want to try and move my thumb !!!!! I already know Ill be doing rehab after that cast comes off in 2 months.

I'm glad that it's improving. Sorry you have such a long recovery ahead of you. God be with you.

the nest boxes are quite a bit higher than they had by about 2 feet off the floor with a 6 inch landing, should I maybe add a ramp to the boxes?

Do any of your girls have trouble flying?

I knew from the start that my Brahma would need a ramp because once Dumpling approached her full size she could never get more than about 18" off the ground even when powerfully motivated by the idea that someone else was getting a treat that she wasn't getting. ;)

no they all have vertical air lol... but just wondering with having an egg lock n loaded, ready to bombard.....

Well, been a sad week. After moving the chicks a few weeks back into the new coop and getting settled in, sold the old coop right after my wrist surgery.... Then disaster struck, not sure where they came from but apparently there is a family of raccoons moved in close ( havent found them yet but when I do...BANG BANG BANG !!!!! Lost all of my egg laying hens and 2 of the littles,,, so the last 4 I opened the gate and said hell with it, let them run with the neighbors hens. I cant get up to fix where the coons are getting in at the roofline, the battery came in today for the solar fence charger but I already gave up after losing all the girls. To make matters worst Ill be filing for divorce and probly havin to sell the property anyways, Im just done, Depends how things play out, I want to say its been great here with all your help and guidance, The friendly atmosphere, the friendships made. Thank you for having me hereand look forwards to seeing everyone again if things take a turn for the best with my property.

Got the roofline done to keep the coons out yesterday, feeling really secure inside. got the electric fence installed tonight after a long day fishing with my buddy , catching up on time and life events. Got a nice little sunburn on my arm ( guess the surgery area is sensitive for now? Chicks are still kicking around and healthy, all 12 look strong, Hope they are ready to go in the coop by November. ( Im the bearded guy in the front )
