Started to do surgery for impacted crop and...

Thought guinea had impacted crop so we started to cut to empty crop. We just got through 2 skin layers and this purple red watery liquid just spewed out. It did not smell and it eventually drained and her crop/chest was normal again. She seems to be doing fine and hapoy to have that out. We have her in her own tote to help her heal for now. What could have caused that?

Could it have been a hematoma that you drained? Relieving the pressure would have helped the crop function again.

I hope that is what it is. She is feeling good and even perched which she has not done in a while but I kind of feel like it might be filling up again with fluid.
