I'm starting a small poultry butchering business and need some help with prices per bird I slaughter. I was wanting to be able to process ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens, and possibly quail and pheasants. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :D

Where we are all poultry processors are mobile so they usually charge 3 dollars a bird plus mileage. I think they charge like 50 cents a mile or something like that. For turkeys, ducks, and geese they charge 5 dollars a birds plus mileage.

They bring all their own equipment and set up in the persons yard and process and package right there.

You skin them, that's what I've always done because I'm not good at plucking them m or do I have the time

It's highly likely that many of your customers will want a product that has skin on. So it would be smart to be able to provide a full range of services, which would include plucking.

They're going to want to pay you to do something they don't want to do or can't do either and they're going to want it to look like something they can buy at the store.

So figuring out how to pluck, finish, and package is what is going to give you the most satisfied customers and happy customers is the only way to stay in business.

If "you're not good" or "don't have the time" you won't make it.

I mean I don't mind to do the plucking,I just don't have any of the necessary equipment to do so. Like many other people, money is a limited resource to me.

Try to find someone who has a plucker and rent it.Just line up a bunch of work for one weekend and rent it till you can buy your own most people that have them don't use them every day.I don't think you will get much business without plucking .

Not to be rude but you aren't going to make it in a business if you don't have the tools/ability to do the full job. A plucker is pretty much mandatory if you want to process chickens professionally.
