Starting about 18 BCM eggs tonight. March 24th /25th hatch

oh i'm sooooo glad you posted pic's of how they break the shell...now at least i know what it looks like...how exciting!!! i got some rocking from two eggs now...i can hardly stand this suspense!!!!

maybe if i stop looking at them something will happen...

I don't understand why nothing ever happens hatch-wise when I'm at home and awake. Between noon, when my fiance checked on them, and 4:30, when I got home, two chicks hatched. But from 4:30 to 8:30pm, while I've been here, absolutely nothing has happened. None of my pips have progressed... nothing! It's not fair that I never get to see anything. And watch, I'll go to bed and when I wake up there will magically be more chicks!

I decided to get the hatched fuzzies into the brooder, when I went to check again, the big one was asleep next to the bleeder and the bleeder is half hatched out. so I left them. But theres some bloody gore splashed on the incubator. Uggh..and the bleeder looks pretty bloody and gross but seems to be progressing fine. I'm sure it was just the blood vessel, I'll keep you all updated.

I don't work, so I got to watch 2 eggs hatch! Being a stay at home mom does have its benefits after all.

lol, yes it does...but i think it works against me at times because i have too much time to stare at the incubator where nothing is happening...

Ok, 6 hatched, 11 pips, and 3 rocking and rolling. The 'bleeder' is not gonna make it. I noticed yellow gunk and blood, but left it. Then I noticed he was looking dry and weak and wasn't progressing. Decided it was time to step in...he has a tiny exposed yolk that is leaking and dried him in the position he was in, he could not move at all. He kept gasping and I noticed a membrane over part of his beak. I pulled and pulled and pulled...he had swallowed an inch strip of membrane and most of it left was covering his nostrils. I had to wet him down very well to unglue his wings legs and head from his body. He was sooo stiff with dried yolk. Once he was loosened up, he didn't uncurl much but started chirping loudly. I just laid him in moist paper towel and am hoping for the best.

i'm so glad for your other hatches - but how awful for this little one struggling...poor thing...

I should have culled it, it seemed like it was doing better but then it suddenly died. When I took it out it looked like the rest of the yolk sac got torn, there was more blood and yolk. As we speak I have 2 Jersey Giants, 1 OE or EE (don't know the dad), 1 lavender ameracauna, 2 EE and whole bunch zipping and pipping. 4 are in the brooder and are soooo darn cute! I should probably sleep.
