This will be my first time all on my own. We had chickens when I was growing up, but the hens laid and raised their own babies. So this is the first time I’ve raised a flock! I am most looking forward to when they are at their laying stage and we can collect eggs and care for their boxes, and spoil them with yummy chicken treats to keep them happy.@WilsonChickies - So glad to have you!
A big, friendly welcome to the Wilson family! How nice that you are able to establish your own little backyard flock, and it is great to hear your father is able to help you make a custom coop for them. What a lovely candling photo you've shared- we can't wait to see more photos, especially of those hatched babies. Best wishes for successful hatching.
Will this be your first time keeping chickens? What part of chicken caretaking are you looking forward to most?
But I think I am most excited about them hatching and having the fluffy babies peeping around!
The little hen I pictured at the end of my welcome was a big cuddle bug and liked to sleep under your chin as a chick. Hopefully you get some little sweeties in that bunch! I highly suggest doing some clicker training with them as babies to really encourage a close bond with your backyard flock.
