Starting our Backyard adventure!

Hello!

We are the Wilsons! We are nestled in the western slope of Colorado at the edge of the Rockies. We live in a little city that allows hens in your very own backyard.
Our chicks are due to hatch around the 10th of December.
We candled a few last night and it is incredible to see the fragile, little life on the inside of the shell, kicking away!
I’ve already asked for advice on having winter chicks/late spring layers, so we are good to go so far.
We are so excited to see the littles hatch and grow! And I’m really glad I found this little forum!

Welcome to BackYardChickens! So glad to have you here in our wonderful community of friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens and to the chicken life! :D

You will have great memories with your new chicks. Feel free to post pictures of your newly-hatched chicks on here! We all love to see everyone's adorable chickens. I hope all goes well when they hatch. :D

@WilsonChickies - So glad to have you! :welcome

A big, friendly welcome to the Wilson family! How nice that you are able to establish your own little backyard flock, and it is great to hear your father is able to help you make a custom coop for them. What a lovely candling photo you've shared- we can't wait to see more photos, especially of those hatched babies. Best wishes for successful hatching.

Will this be your first time keeping chickens? What part of chicken caretaking are you looking forward to most?
