Starting to really worry about the safety of my birds. :(

Maybe he needed the food? I'd bring him eggs with a smile, unfortunatly you can't choose your neighbors.

PS Tall locked privacy fences make great neighbors.

This is the same man who proudly bragged to me that he beat his ex wives and I am certain (from listening) that he does his current one. I also suspect that he poisoned a litter of puppies on my deck a couple of years ago. I won't be sharing eggs with him anytime soon, even if he was starving. I will be moving in about a year and he will no longer be an issue.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this. My mom lost one of her childhood cats to an idiot neighbor who ground up glass and put it in cat food they left outside for it to find.

I try not to talk much with my neighbors. I smile and wave to the ones I like, and sort of ignore the rest. The guy next to us is a registered sex offender, which we did not find out about until last year. He has never bothered us, but I've heard him hollering and cussing up a storm at some teenagers that were staying at his place (this was before we found out about his sex offender status too). Thankfully those kids moved out. I'd just started to relax in this place at about that point, but now I am on heightened alert again all the time. Every night I walk around the house and make sure all of our windows and doors are locked. I have a metal baseball bat I keep in the house in case I hear anything... and I would certainly beat anyone to a bloody pulp if they attempted to enter my home. I've followed too many stories of kids disappearing to let my guard down. - So far we've been lucky with our chickens. We've just had the furry predators to watch out for. But I made sure when our coops where being built to put keyed locks on all openings (probably due to me growing up in the suburbs of Detroit where you had to lock everything you owned down at night). The exception being the pop door. If someone feels the urge to get down on their hands and knees in the dirt in the middle of the night to crawl through it, I hope my rooster is right on the other side of the door to peck them in the eye.

Yes, it is no fun worrying about someone who lives right next door. Most of my neighbors are nice enough....this guy scares me. I don't ever let just one of my kids play outside. Has to be at least 2 at all times for a "buddy system" type thing. Oh, and even though I siad poisoned, the vet said it was probably ground up glass that killed the puppies. I couldn't really afford to get them autopsied and the symptoms were right for glass.

It is a horrible way to die.

They were puppies born to a pregnant stray I had picked up and never were even allowed off the deck without me. They were killed on my deck while I was at my Mother's house for Thanksgiving.

I don't do the buddy system here. Mine are too young yet. The rule is that they can't go outside unless mom or dad is with them. Even when they are teenagers I'm not sure I'll let them out by themselves.

I'm probably going to be putting them in self defense classes as soon as they are eligible.

So sorry to hear about the puppies.

It is a horrible way to die. If only the idiots who did that to animals could have the same done to them. You can bet there would never be another case of it.
