Steadfast's 1st Coop (Ton's of Photos)

Your coop is fabulous. Great creativity. I too would be concerned about the chicken wire. Hardware cloth would be the way to go. I would hate to hear of any lose with your girls after all your hard work and dedication. There has been posts of some tragic events here from using chicken wire. Good luck and have a great time. They are alot of fun and addicting. OH and

The chicken wire we are useing is some new fangled "reinforced Chicken wire".
It is dipped into some super bitter tasting "tool dip" type pastic resin.
it is suppose to be 3X stronger the mere mortal chicken wire.

Here are some more photos of the Coop's latest upgrades!

Our new door which opens to the "outside Playground"...

Yes, there is a lock on this door, to keep them in when they are to be in and Ricky Racoon OUT where he belongs.

The new "Outside Playground Area" with 6 foot high reinforced chicken wire walls.
This area is far from "preditor secure", but it keeps them in, and gives them 4X the space to move around.
The girls only get to play in it when we are home, in the backyard, directly supervising them.

Once we installed the new "Playground" our daily egg haul has gone up from 4 eggs per day.. to 8 eggs!!!
Happy Chicken bring BIGGER yeilds!

I noticed that guests where Unconsciously moving their bodies to lean on my coop wall and then jerking back when they realized what they were doing..
or worse the local kids where actually grabbing my wire when looking in...
not cool!

So, I built a leaning bar, so they could do so with out damaging my coop.
Here is the Coop with the wood leaning bar installed around it's parimiter.

I love it!! (Maybe not the price tag...

) I love re-using stuff. Some friends are giving us their now unused coop. The Mrs. wanted to make sure that both my hubby and I wanted it, because she said it's possible that the ugly thing could bring down our property value!

I told her it's fine, FREE makes anything pretty! (Plus, I can always take it apart and put it back together in more aesthetically pleasing manner
