I posted pictures of my black shoulder peacock "Ares" in the following thread:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/621753/pictures-of-my-peacocks-today-and

The 3rd picture is him breeding a female. I was so proud that, that happened for me to see and I wanted to share it with you all. Then I am looking to see what peas people are selling on craig's list. Well someone from Lagrangeville, NY is using my picture of Ares breeding to sell his or her peacocks for $300 a pair!

Now the only place that picture was posted was on this forum and that only means that the person who "stole" my picture is a member here!

SHAME ON YOU!

Only a scumbag would copy a picture from someone's thread and save it as their own without asking the owner first.

I have never done this to anyone.

Now I know why when someone posts a picture they have to deface it with his/her name on it.

They could have just typed in keywords for peafowl and found your photo as BYC is not a private site and anytime you post a photo with a discription it will be all over the net under images.
Sorry this happened to ya but it may not be a member her just someone surfing for a photo for their sales pitch.

I'm sorry it happened to you. I'd buy a program where you can put your signature on the bottom corner, then it's marked.

Putting any photos on the Internet is risky. It leaves anyone to copy at will, especially on a public site. I hope they take your photo off.

You have a beautiful bird though! Even though he's in an awkward position for a photograph.;)

That has happened to me often.... usually on ebay.
People will write me to tell me they saw one of my photos. I will write to the person that used it, and they usually plead ignorance. "I didn't know I couldn't use it" or they get defensive and say " If its on the Internet is available for anyone". Sometimes they just blatantly lie and say... "no, thats my bird."

Bottom line is the only way to prevent it is to deface all our photos with some stupid watermark.. I take too many photos to do that...

Good luck to you. I know how maddening it is!

Hi, I sincerely apologize to the owner of that Picture and rest of the BYC world. I am a foreigner. I did think only one thing, that let all the other people see this rare photo and enjoy. If I had the intention of commercialising or stealing his photo, I would nothave given my phone no.That is my honest mistake I beg everybody,s biggest pardon esp. the owner.I am really really sorry my friend. Now I lost the unternet link to take it off. Therefore I whole heartedly request the BYC administration to make my entire add inactive. I really hope that my deep repentence will calm your anger down towards me.Thanks.

just looked like misleading to buyers, selling birds then using somebody birds pics.

only use pics of the birds , or their parents.
