Stealing My Peafowl Pictures From Here Is WRONG!

It's happened to me. A BYCer selling "famous-line" wheaten Ameraucanas took a couple of photos of my chicks and was passing them off as her chicks on her website. My 12 year old son had taken the photos and put his name on the corner of the photos, but she had it edited out. The irony is the chicks were OE....LOL. She had also copied another BYCers very stunning pics of olive eggs for her website. We got her to remove them and I did report her.

if you lost the internet, how are you able to post here? Your ad is on many different craigslists. The BYCs admins can't do a thing about those ads. you need to go to craigslist and edit your listings, or have them removed. What you have done is not just immoral, it is also illegal copyright infringement. You have stolen someone else's photos for your own gain. These are not your birds and to represent them as yours is really low down.

I suppose we all get to decide for ourselves what makes us angry but IMO the responses to this situation are over the top, especially the name-calling. when you post on an open forum you take a number of risks. The person who used the photo explained his thinking & apologized. Can't understand why that wasn't enough. What objective harm was done?

Selling your stock using someone photos taken by someone else of their stock is horse thievery. That's an unusual sort of jerk. He's selling your bird and your set up- your maintenance- your everything--

well, what about the harm to HIS buyers....the ones who respond to his craigslist ads. They thing the photos are the parents of the birds he is selling, when actually they are not. That is about as dishonest as it gets.

And actually, the law states if you do not have specific permission (preferably written!) from the owner of a photo, you cannot legally display it on a website, post it to the Usenet, copy it, send it around by Email or other means, make photos derived from it, sell it, or otherwise exploit it. It's nearly impossible to actually sue someone though, unless you can prove damage. It's still illegal though. It does not become public property just because you posted it on the web.

Everyones got opinions. So heres mine. First To the OP .If something bothers you that dang bad you need to talk to that person FIRST.Then see what can be done if that dont work.And here if just three people flag it on craigslist its gone anyway. Next I know darn well Im gonna ask questions all about the birds. Because if you dont then youre stupid. Why? One main resaon is THIS IS THE INTERNET!!!! NEVER EVER forget this!!!! It just about all public domain. I personally dont care if people use my photos. If any of you that feel like the OP does about photos then you had better copyright AND watermark them. I see it as that simple. Also the person apoligized AND gave the reason of his thinking as well.This is a great informitive post at the very least. Even if I dont agree with alot of what people posted. Also some people dont read all these posts so good because there was never ill intent by the pic poster.So if that isnt good enough for you at this point To me you are just pretty hateful.Because If a sincere apology dont work. I know I personally want nothing to do with you. We all make mistakes, myself included.

I deeply regret to what I have done. I personally and repeatedly apologize to the owner of that picture openly and publicly. That is the only picture of yours that I used . The rest of the pictures in all those adds are 100% my own birds. I lost the internet link to those adds for the modification. I do not know who to contact. But I sincerely request the BYC administration to remove those adds for which I will be ever indebted to you.They will be any way removed after 45 days which is another 15 days. You can do the same thing now I suppose.I feel totally ashamed of my self. Please understand BYC community. Thanks.
