Stella's Social Club

Our house is about 34' square and very open so a blaring TV in the great room reverberates all over the house. It's doing it now because DH is watching Man of Steel. I'm going to bed to read a book. Needless to say, I'm closing the bdrm door, which is about all I can do to tone it down.
lol I watched that last night too.
the audio is goofy though. it went from real low where you had to turn it up then a minute later it was so loud I though it was going to blow out my speakers on my tv

BRRR - 6AM and it is 14° here. A good day to stay under the covers and sleep late.
I need to move further south. I dislike winter weather immensely.

Fortunate for me, Mike does the chicken chores now.

I think I will go make some hot chocolate and toast. If I am lucky, I may even have a few marshmallows left that I can use. (If Kayson did not eat them all)

wow in November even.

Crazyhen, I worry for you.

You need to live in a bulletproof shelter, won't the police do anything about your neighbors? This is horrible.
I live in the country, which I love. Shooting a gun is part of the culture here and more and more in the young drugs are more prevalent too. I worry for this generation ; as I am sure others did for our generation. We are losing so many to drugs. The people next door have never offered to cause me harm but I do worry about riqueshays from bullets on rock here. I feel so much sadness for the loss of these young men. I have watched as they grew up. So sad. I only feel afraid when I am out on my porch and I know they are impaired. I know that bullets can come through windows and walls but I just get angry inside when they disturb the wonderful healing peace about me here. If they stay away from the homes way in the back I do not worry as much. Thank you for caring. The police here do not bother this family, never has, the father was an excon.

Kathy, our low was 13.5 and now it's 14.7 so you can see the temps are on their way up. This is ridiculous for November- more like mid-December but, who are you gonna complain to? I know ,we can vent on BYC.

I get out my LLBean's fleece lined jeans, my gloves, my hooded parka, face mask and ear warmer and I'm all set to go. Really if you have to be out for any length of time - a face mask helps tremendously. It warms the air you breathe and I have to take off at intervals because I get too warm.

One can only wish for quiet. When I am alone I will just sit in my porch swing and drink in the sounds of forest and the stream nearby. I love to watch the fog lift in the early mornings of summer. Some times I see turkeys or deer in the yard below the house sometimes a groundhog running about eating grass( no beans for him to steal this yr.

) I just sit and listen and watch with a cup of coffee, tea, or hot coco. A real treasure in time.
Yeah, with kids, it's rarely quiet.

I just wish I looked like those models when I wear a scarf - like hats, not my best look

No hats here either. I look terrible in hats.

I have never seen any like these before..... have you?

Cyn - look at this etsy store .
You could do that! Hers are 11" x 65"
I think she is a bit overpriced. ?? $64.

I love this color....

I love that one!

I've seen some things similar to the tube like fringe ones. Haven't done any.

Kathy, that one you like would be so easy to do, yuppers, just uses a couple skeins of yarn. I wouldn't charge that much for mine, nope, but that one does look pretty long, the way it's wrapped. I've seen a yarn that color called Oatmeal. It's a nice, neutral color.

I have a couple sort of similar in color in our store, like this one, just not as long. This has two (correction, three) strands held together, one called Vanilla Swirl.

This one is a bulky yarn in a color called Linen--it's not as yellow as the photo shows, but closer in shade to the one you liked--my door behind it is actually white, so you can tell the color is a tad off. Stupid cheap camera always has to be monitored for color weirdness.

Is this one a tube that is just wrapped a certain way? 'Cause I like it lots.
In the photo, looks like an infinity scarf, not a tube, just made with bulky yarn and wrapped around multiple times. If you use a bulky yarn, or multiple strands, and an extra large hook, you get that effect. I could be wrong about the tube, but you'd have to read the description of how she made it to be certain.

If she did make a tube, that would use a ton of yarn, hence the big price, but I sort of doubt she did. But, it's so long, that it may have cost her a bit in materials. Bulky or super bulky yarn is getting quite expensive and there isn't much on a skein, the more bulky the yarn, the less yardage on a skein.

ETA: I read her site and she says:

Quote: So, not a tube. Of course, if there is something you like that we don't have, be it style or color, you could ask about it, like that expensive infinity scarf in the oatmeal color bulky yarn. i'm sure Ladyhawk or I could do one for you for less than that by custom order. Just would have to purchase the yarn and do it. :) They really aren't difficult, but just take the time and materials to do. A skein of super bulky yarn can have as little as 64 up to 108 or so yards on it, whereas regular worsted weight yarn may have 200-370 yards for about the same price, but price depends on the quality of yarn as well. A scarf like that could take 3-4 skeins of yarn or even more, depending on the length/circumference you want or need and how much yarn is on a skein of the chosen yarn. We measure ours from the back of the neck to the bottom of the cowl, to tell where it will fall on the body of the person wearing it.

Also adding that the cost of one skein of bulky yarn varies a lot. We use mostly good quality acrylics which are easy care and more affordable, but they can range from $3 per skein up to $10 per skein. Ive seen some heavenly bamboo yarn that feels like silk for $8 per skein at Hobby Lobby, but can't recall how much yardage is on it.
