My family always bought New Balance ahtletic shoes because they were made in USA. That is no longer the case, they are made elsewhere and the sizes and fit are all over the place but the price is higher. Golly!
I see Menard's frequently has promotions offering MADE in USA products. Good for them. I can't read most of the fine print nowadays so I appreciate them bringing it to my attention.

Molly you are lucky to have so fine a young man. When he left here the last time he said he was going to go home to see if his momma needed any help. Made me tear up. I have a son of whom I am very proud too. I wish he lived closer.
This shed can't turn into a chicken coop because that shiny area to the left is the road! In front and to the right s the driveway and behind it the high school. It's gotta' stay a shed.Besides we moved all the stuff from the barn into our basement today and believe me, I need the shed for feed!

I saw this posted elsewhere, and have really thought about this. I am taking the challenge. I also endorse thrift stores and second hand consignment type shops. I think we can all be more thrifty and conscientious. Everyone around here can, anyway!
Personally, I want to focus on buying American made (or secondhand items). I recently found a new company that makes 100% American made jeans, similar to Levi's. 1791 is the name of the company. They are just getting started. ALL of their jeans were sold out quickly, and they are now restocking for a January delivery. The jeans are expensive - $129. BUT, they should last almost forever - ya know, like the old "American made," items that didn't need replaced (years ago) all the time. The cotton is grown in the USA, it is made into fabric in the USA, and the fabric is made into garments in the USA. I like it ! ! They are coming out with some shirts now, too. I want one of those. I also like that this company gives at least 10% of their net earnings to charity. The charity is "Mercury One," and I like their mission.... kinda like, "neighbors helping neighbors," mentality.
